Bedroom is in a shared house in Buena Vista, a peaceful neighborhood near Wynwood/Midtown and a very close drive to Jackson Memorial Hospital. It's not the type of neighborhood I would take a stroll in and it initially gives sketchy vibes but neighbors are approachable, occasionally saying hi if they see you.
The house itself has 3 bedrooms. One is occupied by a very chill long term tenant that my family and I have known for a couple of years. The others are listed on Airbnb.
The parking on the premises is occupied by an air conditioning company's vans so you may see a few people in the morning or evening picking up or dropping off their vehicles. Your parking is public and right in front of our house on the street.
Someone else you might see on the premises–the occasional gardener maintaining the landscape.
Patio, living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and laundry area is all shared.
What's off limits are the other bedrooms, parking spaces occupied by the vans, garage and the backyard.
You can message me on Airbnb if you need any help.
I do travel a lot, as does my family, so it's likely you won't see us in person. However, we have people that can help us out with whatever you need in case we're not there.
If you're looking for top tier hotel service like many Airbnbs nowadays, this place might not be for you. We simply have a space in a home to spare.
While we do our best to provide a comfortable stay and tend to our guests and their requests, disruptions happen–a baby next door may cry, a lizard may enter the home, a street cat may enter the premises expecting to be fed, an amenity might break down and its repair service may take longer than desired. This comes with booking a space in a home and residential neighborhood and hope guests can stay with an understanding of this while we take care of whatever circumstance presents itself.
Note, maintenance and housekeeper has the right to enter the unit with a 24 hour notice for repairs and maintenance.
*Our air conditioning unit is at a very specific temperature, 73°F, that can't be changed. Every guest has a different preference so we've left it at a temperature that our system can handle and is in between what most guests and the long term tenant wants.
We know life gets hectic and it’s possible to miss a rule here or there.
We also want to share these rules to provide a more comfortable shared living space, prevent any confusion or frustration between guests and to protect the condition of the house. 🙂
- Communicate, communicate, communicate – make sure to communicate any problems to prevent them from growing into significant problems. We’ll try our best to get to any issues asap.
- Quiet hours are between 10pm to 8am
- Please do not try to adjust the thermostat. We’ve previously had guests set it to their liking but everyone has different preferences and the AC sometimes freezes. It’s currently at 72°F
- Please turn the lights off if you aren't using a space and see that no one else is either.
- PLEASE, keep track of your food and dispose of it all in the green bins in the yard at the end of your trip. This prevents the cleaners from accidentally throwing out a guest's food in shared spaces.
- Make sure the door is completely shut and the fence is locked even when you’re at home and above all, especially at night.
- Smoking/vaping is not allowed in-doors. Please smoke outside.
- No outside or overnight guests! We will report anyone that's not a listed traveler. A $300 party file will be charged if there are more guests than listed on the reservation.
- To prevent pests from invading the space and to be considerate of other guests, please…
- Do not leave any food or food crumbs behind whether on the table, in the sink, etc
- Wipe down dishes, pans, table, counter etc promptly after preparing food
- Clean the microwave if it gets dirty
- Take out the trash daily if you can. The longer trash sits out, the more it attracts pests.
- For longer term stays, the city picks up garbage on Monday & Thursday. Recycle pickup is Thursday, the 1st & 3rd of the month. If you do not see the full trash container out near the curb, please take the container out.
For organizational purposes…
- Please use the spaces in the fridge with your bedroom number
- If there’s an empty space elsewhere and you need it temporarily, please ask.
- All the items on the property are for the common use please keep all of them in good condition and available for other guests
- Please keep the shared living space as it was at the start of your stay. No adding onto it with longer term personal items or usage. Preferred usage examples–watching tv, reading a book, playing a game for a couple of hours.
- Be mindful of the time used in the kitchen, bathroom, and with the washer/dryer. Communicate ahead of time if you’ll be needing a space for longer than expected (i.e. bathroom for over 30 minutes) or if you need a space at a specific time.
We hope these rules will make living with others smoother. Let’s see how they work and of course, let us know if they can be improved. 🙏
Thank you!
