1 Bedroom Cabin in Highlands
Hiking, fishing, waterfalls, wildlife and nature abound at our sweet bungalow tucked in the woods across the Cullasaja River and directly between Highlands and Franklin. This is the perfect spot to find respite and renewal. Stroll the dirt roads with your furry friends, trout fish the Cullasaja or spend the day shopping and dining in Downtown Highlands or Franklin and sit by the campfire in the evenings. This charming cottage packs a huge punch of character and comfort for its small size.
Our cabin is a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom home with an additional sleeping loft with a double size mattress. The sleeping loft is NOT SUITABLE for small children. There is a full kitchen and washer and dryer (not pictured as they were installed after photos were taken). Fire Extinguisher and Fire Blanket are located under the kitchen sink. First Aid Kit is located in the bathroom. The large back porch is wonderful anytime of day, located right off the kitchen. There is no central HVAC. However, there is baseboard heat in both the bedroom and living space as well as an electric fireplace. There is also a brand-new window AC unit in the bedroom. It typically stays comfortable in the summers even without it. We do not have WIFI as the only provider in the area is not worth having. There is a cell tower nearby that we get strong signal from. Cellular hotspots can be used to stream TV. HOWEVER, we cannot make guarantees for each guests as we cannot make a blanket guarntee for all cell carriers.
There is also a DVD player. We have about 20 DVDs. Additional DVDs can be rented at Redbox at most area Dollar Generals. We do have a firepit but do not provide firewood. It can be purchased at local gas stations and groceries. We are pet friendly but not fenced. We have a baby gate if you prefer to keep doors open or if you want your pet to join you on the porch.
We are on a septic tank and as such we ask that you not flush anything other than toilet paper ie,,,wipes of any type-not even "flushable".
Highlands is in a temperate rain forest. Some years we get lots of rain. Some winters we get a lot of snow. Please plan accordingly for your stay. If you are concerned about weather and road conditions we strongly encourage you to purchase travel insurance as refunds are not offered due to weather conditions. We have many guests who book solely for the purpose of experiencing the unique weather patterns that Highlands experiences.
Guests have full access to our property. Please keep yourself and your pets off of neighboring properties but feel free to stroll the roads.
