It is truly lovely, and the neighborhood is pretty, quiet, calm, and family oriented.
Basics: Located in a stately home, a prime specimen of a Park Slope brownstone, elegant, and spacious. Dating to 1891 and designed by Rudolf L. Daus, it cuts a fine figure from the street. This apartment is large (approx. 850 sq. ft), occupying the entire garden floor of the 20'-wide brownstone. It is longer than most, as the newly renovated kitchen is an extension as opposed to being incorporated into or carved out of the back room. The front bedroom is enormous, followed by an office/library, then a roomy living room, leading to the big kitchen, which also houses a brand new washer and dryer and (concealed) dish-washer. There are many closets. The bathroom contains a newly glazed tub and shower. The garden is very pretty (see pictures)! Shared with the owners, who only go down there to water or weed, as we have our own deck with a garden view.
Aesthetics: The vibe is classic brownstone, with details including original wood floors, French doors, moldings, and fretwork. The decor is authentic mid-century modern, with great attention paid to both beauty and comfort. Please no smoking or pets so that we can keep it allergy-free and clean. The bed, linens, and towels are new, the kitchen is stocked, the dishes are from our Russell Wright collection; the bathroom supplies are from New York's iconic Bigelow Apothecary.
Location: Perfectly situated 2 blocks from the stunning Prospect Park*, 5 blocks from the F/G trains, and a pleasant walk to Grand Army Plaza, which has a great farmer's market (there’s also a farmer's market off nearby 5th Ave on Sundays), and public library, as well as the 2,3,4,5,B, and Q trains. Blue Bottle coffee and Juice Press are around the corner from us. There are lots of wonderful restaurants on 5th and 7th avenues.
